Let us assume that 100 millions are engineers , new technology professionals , scientists , physicians, geologists , medical doctors , biologists , economists …which compose the main human resources needed to keep global economy going .

Then we can reckon another 2500 millions working in services for distribution , banking , entertainment ,health , holidays ….and industrial production .

About 400 million may be considered retreated on a pension or rent .

I accept that a thorough calculation may lead to somewhat different figures , but not enough different to invalidate our message .

So if we accept those figures as good enough for a global marketing approach , we can subsequently conclude that several questions need an urgent answer before anarchic actions may derive in imbalances that would take us to a point of non return . Hopefully assuming that we may not have reached that point yet .

It is essential to recall that everyone working in the production of products and services is also a consumer of those products and services . This is very important when trying to set up the necessary equilibrium between offer and demand .

In other words , the investors in the production of the offer have to understand that for the demand to be able to absorb the amount and quality of the offer of products and services , the share of the working force in the richness generated by the production of products and services have to be sufficiently high to acquire such output .

If the richness produced by the offer is poorly distributed with an excess of concentration of richness in share holders and investors , the demand will have to resort to an excess of credit that sooner or later will cause a strong contraction of consumption and non paid debts . Deflation and unemployment will follow .

The other big question is what we do with over 3.500 million persons unable to find a place in the active economy . We are of course reading from time to time in some conscious media about the sort of life that those people can afford to have .

In principle most sensitive persons will come with the spontaneous answer …» let us invest in more factories and projects that will allow to duplicate the number of professionals potentially well paid that will become healthy consumers in time »

The only instrument to promote such process is an intelligent tax system that will protect demand , while maintaining an adequate stimulus to the investment .
A consensus on the basic aspects of that policy would help at world level .

Finally of course remains probably the most important aspect of our common future . How many people can this planet take and on which living standards , before mother Gaia decides to take action to correct our excesses ?
